Smile travels- The smile you know but the story you don’t

After listening the word smile you may think that the owner must have be a happy man. Yes, Mr Basavaraj Patil the leader of belagavi’s taxi union is surely a cheerful man.
But has also faced many hardships throughout his life. Inspite of all these hardships, his smile never faded

Usually smile is used by dentists and you rarely see it being used by a travel agency. If yo ask Mr Basavaraj why did he choose this name, he’ll answer you that it was because everyone appreciated his smile. He never speaks about his struggles to anyone.
After reading this you will be amazed to know that a man who couldn’t afford a meal has grown up to such a respectable position.

Everything about Mr Basavaraj is unique and inspiring. Like his affection for red color,Have you ever seen a red coloured taxi?
No?, But you will find them in Belagavi. And the man behind it is Mr Basavaraj.

When I asked him how could one think about painting his taxis red?, he replies with a smile that you’ve seen yellow taxis in Bengal, black and yellow taxis in mumbai and white/silver taxis everywhere but not red taxis. It was a unique concept in Belagavi and wanted to try it. Today, some of his customers book his cars as they believe red is lucky for them.

While he was speaking I observed that his fondness for red colour is damn high. As the curtains at his office, his visiting card and even the pen he writes is red in colour.

Today Mr Basavaraj is the leader of belagavi’s taxi union. But to reach here he has overcome a lot of difficulties. He did odd jobs like a driver, office boy, computer operator in pwd and even worked at a Xerox shop.

His first step towards success was on 07/08/09 when he bought a second hand car with loans and the tips which he received as a computer operator.
After this he continued his journey and put up his own travels within 04 months. His travels ran very well and he purchased 05 new cars that year. During this period he also helped 02-03 drivers who had come from a poor background. He arranged a room for them, gave groceries and made sure they were comfortable.

Everything was going well but in 2012 he had a small rift in his family and he had to come out with his wife leaving back everything he had set up.

He had nothing with him

It was difficult for him to work under anyone as from the past few years he was owner of 08 cars and had 05 drivers working for him but he had to take care of his wife.
He had to keep his wife’s mangalsutra for mortgage and start living in a single room.

ಕಷ್ಟ ಜೀವನದ ನಡೆ
With not even a single rupee in his pocket, he walked everywhere in search of a job . He managed to get a job of a driver at a factory. He began a new life. His wife also went for work and supported him during this tough time. This couple also met a generous man who helped them lot , he gave them utensils, mattress and other needful things.

He felt very lucky because once upon a time he was the one who did this for his drivers . That day they felt that God has blessed them for the good deeds they did.
To support his family ,he also worked as a TPD(temporary driver) and went on trips to many places. After dropping a customer to their home it used to be midnight and his home was 10-12 km far. He had to walk at 02 am because he had no other option.
Mr Basavaraj is a very social person and wherever he went ,he met various drivers and understood their problems. He assured them that although he couldn’t solve all their problems but he could try to reduce their burden.

In 2016, With the support of 30 such driver friends he began his travels and “he was the first one in Belagavi to provide door to door driver facility” on daily basis .

As he had already experienced the pain of walking 10 km at midnight, he himself picked and dropped his drivers.

While he began such a good deed,he also faced many obstructions. People indirectly asked to stop him whatever he began but he didn’t fear. He told them that he’ll stop everything and sit at home but you should pay my bills,my daughter’s school fees and for my food. He further adds, we must always do our work with honesty and must never fear about anything. If anyone tries to pull your legs, just pull away your legs and climb upwards.

Driving test at smile travels-
Mr Basavaraj himself takes a driver’s test before appointment him. He takes a old car which is not in good condition and takes them on very narrow and poor condition roads. He confuses them by his commands and tries to test their focus and patience. If a driver manges to drive back to the office then he’s selected or else Mr Basavaraj asks him to get more practice and drives back alone to his office.

A visiting card worth of appreciation-
The motto of smile travels -” Travel a mile with a smile” is not the only worthy thing. He has also mentioned that the food expenses must be paid by the customer and about the overtime charges of a driver if he drives mors than 300 kms a day. He did all these because he has served as a driver and knows that driving is a tiresome job.

Today Mr Basavaraj has 5000 and counting happy customers in Belagavi and as the leader of taxi union is working on implementation of new policies for the welfare drivers and their families.

Go Vegan

Recently i was watching Joaquin phoenix’s speech after winning the Oscar. Joaquin, a vegan spoke about this issue.

Slaughtering of cows is banned. I feel government must allow it.

Because cows and buffaloes are tortured till it’s death and then killed for beef. I think it’s better if they are slaughtered so that they do not suffer for the rest of its life.

Cow is worshipped as holy and it’s milk is used for manufacturing of dairy products.

We stopped slaughtering of cows because it is our God.

But..
Did we all forget that before we respect it as a godess , we must learn to respect it as a mother.

A mother can’t leave without its child , then how can it leave without its calves???

It’s now time that we should stop treating cow as goddess. It’s of no use.

Start reminding yourself that cow is first a mother, then a goddess.

I feel that people respect their mother more than any gods.

Totally avoiding dairy products is a highly impossible task. But if we reduce consumption of a cup of milk or a slice of cheese or even a cube of panner ,it could make a huge change.

Please try being like Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma,R Madhavan, Alia Bhatt, John Abraham and Kartik Aaryan who have become vegan.

Please give an attempt. Try to reduce consumption of animal products

I have a dream

Today people have started a call for justice and also people have started to recall all the articles and sections of the constitution of all the countries. So hereby they know that rape is a heinous crime.

This will last for about 24 hours(people who have added status) or till a candle is burnt completely.

I don’t even have to take the trouble of reading a newspaper or searching it online as if a woman is harrassed or a soldier dies the social media is trending with all the details of the person. I see that social media has such a vast reach but I pity that this reach is limited only to hashtags, posts and Stories. I feel that social media has completely failed to make people realise and change their mindset. The social media story is being uploaded but the message in the story hasn’t reached them. It’s simple, there is no change in the crime rate , it is the same as it was before the social media existed.

Basically there are two types of people, one who add status and the one who takes candle in his hand. Reach is zero, as on social media people will just swipe to the next one and on the road they will just go as if they aren’t concerned. In both cases you are ignored and thus your message remains unreached.

A status exists for 24 hours while a candle lasts for a few minutes. In our country the crimes are being commited at such a faster rate that before a status is gone hundreds of candles are already burnt.

#TeriMitti . Even those who don’t watch bollywood have heard each and every line of this song. I bet that people who don’t know to speak Hindi will sing this song with correct lyrics. Earlier people used Vande Mataram and now it’s teri mitti after this there would be one more song.

Are we creating a playlist???.

In this song , a soldier wishes to die for his motherland and get mixed up in the soil.

But i don’t want his wish to be fulfilled.

Yes I am selfish.

I want this soldier to be standing happily with his family and get all his wishes fulfilled execpt the wish to die.

Because one picture of the soldier standing with his family is >>>>>>>>>> crores of status stating RIP.

In our country women and soldiers are the one who undergo lots of suffering. People have become so inhumane that no place on this earth is safe.

We keep knocking the door of the honourable supreme court but the door remains closed.

With great regret i have ask all the women to stay at your home and not to go out anywhere (even after 70+ years of independence). Feminists may target me for this but there is no better option left.

I even don’t understand the concept of safety indices or the list of top 10 safest cities in India. I don’t have much knowledge but even in the safest city there would be atleast 20-30% crime rate. what assurance will you give me that it’s accurate and also isn’t there a probability of you being in that 20-30% ??

According to me there is nothing called as RIP as if a person hasn’t lived in peace, how can he rest in peace??

Instead of RIP ,it should be WFP (means Waiting For Peace).

My dream:

One day I want to wake up and read only Gm , beautiful quotes and funny memes.

I don’t want to listen to the song teri mitti instead i want this song to go far away and never come back .

I want to extinguish this candle and never see it lightened.

Bas itni si hai dil ki arzoo.

Happy teachers day

My life was like a black board which had nothing but darkness. Then you came into my life and with a chalk and lightened up my life which gave me my existence into this world

Yes I am talking about my teachers who prepared me out to face this world by instilling confidence and courage.
By sitting in a classroom you took me around the world. You showed me independence movements, wars , various cultures ,circuits and took me deep inside atoms and molecules. And yes a special mention to all my maths teachers who helped me a lot..

I feel when teachers scold you or hurt you do not feel bad….just think they are like a sand paper, which makes an iron rod shine, who must scratch you and hurt you but at the end the iron rod(we students) shines and gets polished but teachers do not get any credit. They get immense happiness and pleasure.

Teachers always taught us by standing in the class and never sat. That’s the reason why we all are worthy of standing in the society and I believe you will be always standing there for me.

Today i take this pleasure and wish all my teachers who made me shine.

Thank you for everything,

Your student,
Aniket Anand.

Happy teachers day

Fairness cannot give you beauty

Chemistry is really important in our daily life. Because it has given us products like toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, hand-wash, face wash and “FAIRNESS” cream . Many of these products can be neglected as they are related to hygiene.

But…

What is a “FAIRNESS” cream ??
I am really unable to answer it as the answer to this question would make all the efforts of a man who spent “27” years in jail really effortless or go in vain.

Yes, I am talking about Nelson Mandela. He was a man who fought all his life to abolish apartheid in South Africa. He did it only with non violence.

So what is apartheid ?. Basically apartheid means separateness in which white people dominate over black people ie. It’s nothing but racism. Black people were not allowed in public places and they had to be slaves of the white. This was and is really a “black spot on the white people”.

You may doubt that if discrimination based on colour still exists ?.

Yes, it exists. The proof is a Fairness cream. Cream us fine but why is it prefixed with the word “FAIRNESS” ?. Maybe this was not complete so they started things like, “Ayurveda inspired fairness treatment”, “Skin lightening surgery” , “Laser treatment” and many other illogical things which I don’t want to discuss now.

My Message

Everyone is carrying this stupid stereotype called fairness. You need not to be fair to succeed in life.Let me make it clear that fairness has nothing to do with clearing a job interview or being successful. Only with Hardwork and Dedication you can achieve anything. Why can’t you be wheatish or even black , you can be dark and lovely or dark and handsome.
If you don’t believe in inner beauty of people than atleast please don’t believe that fair is beautiful.

Next time whenever you are discriminating anyone by their colour or if you are purchasing a fairness cream to look fair then you are ruining all efforts of Nelson Mandela.

You are special in your own way. You need not use so costly creams just to look fair. If you are fair then you are not always beautiful but if if you are beautiful then you don’t need to be fair.

Remember: Nelson Mandela spent “27” years in jail.

Respect all.

What is Hardwork??

A few days ago I was waiting at the VRL Bus stand at Anand Rao circle . My bus was late by half an hour ,so I had to wait till then. After a few minutes ,I saw a security guard yelling at a cab driver and at the people who were getting down. Maybe the driver had blocked the traffic or he might have been waiting there for a longer time ,so the guard might have yelled at him. Initially I felt that this guard was an arrogant man and had no respect for anyone.
I don’t know why but after this incident I started observing the guard. His duty was to signal the buses in and out without disturbing other vehicles. Initially it may look like an easy task, but it’s not.
This man should make way for the bus that is entering and give it a place just beside the road until another bus vacates it’s place. The road at Anand Rao circle is narrow ,he must have a calm mind so that neither the buses nor any other vehicles get disturbed. As a bus is a big vehicle and needs atleast a few seconds to enter the bus stand. But the vehicles honk as if they have been waiting since hours.

Dedication.

This man stands there from six in the evening till maybe twelve in the night. He is indirectly responsible for maintaining the huge traffic at Anand Rao circle. I agree he is not a soft spoken man as he yells at all the people around there . But if we think about him from another way, we can find his sheer dedication towards work. He has so much pressure on him but he however manages it.

My message.

I see many people have huge respect for farmers and soldiers. I feel people fail to show respect to sweepers , carpenters, drivers, mechanics and many others.
I feel all professions deserve equal respect and everyone works hard for a living. We stay in an urban place and we rarely find farmers or soldiers. So in our daily life we are helped by a driver or a guard.
A farmer would be happy if you don’t waste food and a soldier would be more happy if you respect people around you.
It’s like if everyone worships a Tulsi plant that doesn’t mean that other tree’s aren’t divine, All other tree’s are more important than it.
Find a farmer or a soldier in a guard or a sweeper and respect them.
Respect all
